Question:

What happens to my Mysid when I introduce them to the reef tank or seahorse tank?

You just acclimate them to temp and then introduce the entire bag with filter pump  off for a while to give them a chance to settle in to their new environment surroundings.

The small shrimp become camouflaged and hide in crevices in rocks and macro algae if you have any.

One way to find them is with lights off when they feel safe from predation and come out more and more active.

Shine a flashlight around and their eyes glow in the light like small cat eyes.

It is frustrating  to try and figure out when the numbers are depleted and your seahorses need more live food.

With the seahorse being such slow eaters and the shrimp being so small and camo hide easily.

Once the Mysid shrimp settle in they don't get drawn down the filter very easily. Some will eventually if they get too close to the out take flow, but  a large percentage should stay in the main tank given enough cover.

Msyid shrimp are one of the best live food for fish like Midas Blenny, Anthias and many more.

Make sure your captive kept reef fish get the best nutrition that you can give them by regular feedings of live Mysid shrimp.

Live Mysid will boost your pet fish immune system so you will have less disease out brakes like Ick.

Due to high demands on some weeks, Mysid cultures can sometimes take a week to ship from the day you place your order.

This rarely happens but if this is the case, we will notify you or you can email and ask us at flmantis@aol.com.

We will try our best to accommodate your immediate shipping requirements.

Mysid shrimp can molt in transit so we add 25% extra to the counts ordered. Each order is counted individually on the morning of packaging and shipping.

My seahorses loved them. Bought 100 and could not find any on 3rd day. This sparked one of the seahorses to start eating again after he had not eaten in 2 days. Will order again!

Love this order! Very well packaged. All arrived alive and a ton of them. This is the first time I have ordered live Mysid shrimp. The fish went crazy for them and my Mandarin is still hunting for the ones I put in there. I like them so much, I just placed another order of 1000.

They are small and I just dumped all of them into the tank. We will see how they do in the next few weeks. I assume they went into the rocks because I can't see any of them right now.

I was hoping for larger shrimp
Written by Wendell Perkins on 17th Nov 2016

Quality is great. I got the package on time, they appeared healthy and there many more than I paid for. The description mentions the adult shrimp size, but you will be buying juveniles. All except one of them were the size of adult brine shrimp. My hunger striking seahorse did go after them, but could have eaten them all in one day. If you are looking for adult seahorse food, maybe choose another option. Response: All the cultures of Live Mysid Shrimp we ship are adult size as stated on the description page. You received Mysid shrimp adults full grown at 3/8" in length. Adult marine Mysid are full sized at 3/8" length. Live Mysid and Amphipods are the natural prey animal for seahorses in the wild. Mysid make the best seahorse food, seahorses eat constantly all day long, so they can deplete 100 Mysid in short order. Specially when the Mysid and adult seahorses are confined in a small glass box we call our aquariums. We always add quite a bit extra counts in our Mysid orders when we pack them.

Delivered the day Hurricane Mathew!
Written by undefined on 12th Oct 2016

Not even a hurricane kept ANF from delivering mysids when I needed them ASAP for a baby cuttlefish! They arrived on the other side of the country in better condition than I would have guessed. I'm impressed. I have been wanting to try hatching baby cuttles from the egg and now that I know I have a reliable source for mysids, I am greatly encouraged.
